John Philip Grossarth mustered in as a Private on 10 Apr 1862 in Company K of the 63rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He re-enlisted as a Corporal on 1 Jan 1864 and was mustered in on 10 Feb 1864. He mustered out in Missouri on 13 Jul 1865.
